Gimmicky or not, the SoundClip is a smart little invention. Described as a “passive sound enhancer for iPhone 3G,” it’s basically a plastic bar that clips into the iPhone’s dock connector to direct sound towards you. Ten One Design, the creators of this add-on, do a superb job of explaining the science behind SoundClip on their website, which includes audio examples and detailed technical data. Of course, it shouldn’t take much convincing to realize that this addition is a bit more effective than cupping your iPhone’s speaker for that surround sound experience we all pine for.
